Young deer hit by Google Maps camera van [the panopticon is dangerous]

I’ve nearly hit a few deer in my day, and I worry that perhaps tomorrow I won’t have the reflexes to avoid one. Below is an unfortunate sequence of events as recorded by a Google maps van. (via)

The most recent picture shows the Google van pulling to the right side of the road. Notice how the median does not line up.


Looks like it was the end of that shift/road for that data gathering mission...
Update:
Google’s bandwidth is overloaded, and they’re rather embarassed about the whole thing…
